One can stand in observance, looking out at the surface of various bodies of water and wonder in its total mesmerizing mystery. Like fire, we tend to stare at water and can go into an almost hypnotic state. 

The action of observing the water's surface ignites the soul to travel in time, allowing our mind to go to places we have been before; to memories, to feeling, to emotions, of the past and also to the future; to that place of hope, or finding an answer to those questions running through the mind. 

The surface of water is the connection to that inner journey.
